01. CORRECT INSTALLATION

A. Strap Thickness & Case Clearance

It is important to examine the space between the spring bar and the case before installation.

For some watches, the bar is placed very close to the case as it may be designed specifically for 2 piece straps, and not with a 1 piece pass-through strap in mind.

In this scenario, you may need to consider curved springbars to increase this space in order to use a 1 piece pass-through strap design, or to install the bars over the strap.

Do not force or drag a pass-through strap into a tight clearance case, as attempting to do so will deteriorate the strap, spring bars and case.

02. CORP. CANVAS STRAPS

A. General Wear

Like all fabrics, the cotton canvas weave of the strap will show signs of wear with use. Areas such as the reinforced holes and strap edge may fray with use. To regulate this, carefully run a flame over there areas to re-cauterize and reseal them. Please refer to section 1D below for more.

B. Cleaning

To clean, use a wet cloth to wipe or hand wash with mild soap. The stiffness of the Canvas may soften after cleaning.

The buckle is secured via a spring bar (same as the watch lugs). Remove the buckle if immersing in water during cleaning to avoid damaging or wearing the spring bar.

C. Water Immersion

As with other fabrics, water immersion, or use with water will reduce the life of the product. (Similar to repeated machine wash cycles on clothes).

We suggest removal before showering or swimming. Contact with chlorine and soaps etc may also cause accelerated discoloration and wear.

Historically, military canvas intended for water use has a wax finish applied for greater water resistance.

D. Stitch Reinforced Eyelets

The eyelets of the Corp. Canvas strap are stitch reinforced. With use, some loose threads may appear. To remedy this, use a sharp scissors to remove the excess and a heat source to seal and anchor the thread end.

To best avoid this issue, please ensure the clearance between the watch case and spring bar is sufficient for the strap (refer to section 1A).

Due to the double layer dense weave cotton canvas and raised stitch reinforcement, the strap has a higher side profile than others. Installation, or repeated changing with a tight clearance case will rub and drag on the stitched eyelets, thereby deteriorating them.

Please consider curved springbars to increase the installation space or install the bars over the strap.

Do not force or repeatedly drag a pass-through strap through a tight clearance case, as this will deteriorate the strap, spring bars and case.

03. SERVICE STRAPS

A. General Wear

Like all fabrics, the synthetic nylon weave of the strap will show signs of wear with use. Areas such as the strap edge may fray with use. To regulate this, carefully run a flame over there areas to re-cauterize and reseal them.

B. Cleaning

To clean, use a wet cloth to wipe or hand wash with mild soap.

Although not primarily designed for water use (due to the spring bar equipped design), the Service Series straps has sufficient water resistance. After water use, rinse with fresh water to remove any salt or chlorine. Regularly inspect the spring bars to ensure serviceable condition.

As an extra redundant stage of security, the spare tail of the strap can be tucked under itself, with the floating secondary keeper then advanced over it to offer a secure lock. (Please see above image)

D. Strap Thickness & Case Clearance

Examine the space between the spring bar and the case before installation.

For watches where the space between the case and spring bar is tight, you may need to consider curved spring bars to increase the installation space, or to install the bars over the strap.

Do not force or repeatedly drag a pass-through strap through a tight clearance case, as this will deteriorate the strap, spring bars and case.

04. HAV-IVA STRAPS

A. Hook & Loop Care

  • To maintain and extend hoop and loop performance, lay flat and use sticky tape and / or a toothbrush to remove debris such as dust and lint.
  • For the hook (rough) side in particular, you can also use another hook surface to rub and remove debris.
  • Do not use a heat source or flame on or near the hook and loop surfaces, as this will damage its function.
  • Store the strap fastened (closed) when not in use to minimise debris.

When the strap is new, the adhesive force will be particularly strong. This will lessen and normalise with use.

B. Cleaning

To clean, hand wash with mild soap, or if machine washed, fasten hook and loop surfaces together.

If used in diving or pool, rinse with fresh water to remove any salt or chlorine.

C. Diving & Water Immersion

The HAV-IVA strap is extremely water resistant and been tested extensively with diving and pool use.

After water use, rinse with fresh water to remove any salt or chlorine.

As an extra redundant stage of security, ensure the Rubber Locking Keeper is advanced to towards the Hoop Keeper as shown in the diagram above.

Ensure hook and loop surfaces are maintained for a strong adhesion. (Refer to Section 4A).
